I am the founder and General Manager of Koru Construction.
Koru Construction was formed in 2012 after years of scratching the wanderlust itch with my snowboard in tow I eventually met my match, my wife Lauren. After completing a year-long world trip together, I settled down with my awesome wife in her beautiful home town, Vancouver.
It was time to enact on a childhood dream to build exceptional homes and Koru Construction was founded. I threw my toolbelt on and ventured out into the untamed world of contracting. The first few years I undertook many smaller kitchen and bathroom remodels but soon ventured into larger scale renovations that required an increasingly larger team and organisation. 8 Years later and Koru construction has grown into a large scale residential renovator and custom home builder.
I wish to build homes that are not only beautiful and functional spaces for families to grow in and communities to be built around but also homes that are energy efficient and environmentally conscious.
I feel honored to be involved in one of the most progressive building industries in the world and am constantly educating myself with the newest technology and building practices so I am able to serve our clients and environment a better and more sustainable product to live in and love.
Ali began her career with Koru Construction in 2017. She brings 15 years’ experience in customer service and office administration to the party. She is your first point of contact for all inquiries, and manages all aspects of the office including project coordination, design assistance, and accounts payable/receivable.
Ali enjoys connecting with people and thrives in creating new processes and assisting in the success of each and every project. Her career aspirations include achieving an Executive Level position… unless Disney calls.
In her spare time, Ali enjoys the company of her husband, 3 yr old twins and Chocolate Labrador.
Since starting out in carpentry in 2007, Tim has dabbled in every aspect of the trade from high rise, tilt-up commercial to residential. He has found his niche and developed his expertise and passion within the residential sector. With his eye for detail, high-end finishing, and experience in site supervision, he manages his sites from start to finish.
In his spare time he is a referee in the National Lacrosse League. He enjoys all sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with his family.
Damon joined Koru Construction in 2018 when he emigrated from South Africa. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science and Biokinetics, Carpentry may seem like a drastic career change, though to him it has been a natural progression.
As an Apprentice Carpenter, Damon consistently proves to be very capable in all aspects of a project, but finds finishing to be the most fulfilling. Bringing each client’s vision to life is extremely rewarding, and allows his creativity and attention to detail to reign.
Outside of work, Damon enjoys spending time with his wife exploring the trails on their MTB's, playing golf and tennis. He also enjoys watching sports, and learning all about the ‘new’ North American ones.
Mitch is Koru’s newest Apprentice Carpenter and the youngest employee with the company.
Born and raised local to the Tri-City area, he has seamlessly integrated himself with our growing team. After gaining experience in transport logistics, crane operation, and customer service, he has found his passion and goal of becoming an experienced builder.
Holding himself to a high standard of work ethic, Mitch brings fresh energy to our team and is eager to get back to school early next year to continue his Apprenticeship program. Outside of learning and working in the trade you can find Mitch hiking in the back-country of Golden Ears, or training Jiu Jitsu.
